PTA Awards
Each year PV PTA recognizes outstanding service with three awards. These awards are presented at the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on May 21, 2013. Nominations are due by April 26, 2013. If you are interested in nominating someone for one of the awards listed below click on the links below to download a nomination form. Please place your completed nomination in an envelop marked with the award name (Golden Acorn, Outstanding Educator or Outstanding Advocate) and drop it in the green PTA box in each school office.
Golden Acorn Award:

Anyone may receive this award.
Outstanding Educator Award:
(1 award from each school is given if necessary) Recognizes individuals who go beyond the normal expectations of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging. Pleasant Valley PTA
What we do...
Above all else, we SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS!
Pleasant Valley PTA strives to advocate for our students primarily on education or safety issues and communicate with the Battle Ground School District when we feel strongly about an issue. (ex: class sizes)
We encourage our families to get involved by providing important legislative information throughout the year and create a sense of community with fun and affordable family activities.
PTA programs aim to enrich each students educational experience while at Pleasant Valley. A few examples are:
Each year, PV PTA grants thousands of dollars to our schools for items like:
We rely on the dedication, hard work, and generosity of our Executive Committee, Board of Directors, members, and families to raise funds to make all of this possible.

QR Codes
A new way to communicate
This year we have incorporated QR (Quick Response) codes into our communication efforts. A QR code is a matrix barcode, readable by mobile phones with a camera and smart phones. The QR scanner app is free. Simply download the app, scan the code and additional information will be at your fingertips. The one above takes you to our facebook page, give it a try!
Reflections
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Since it was founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, millions of students have benefited from this program.
The National PTA Reflections Program has three opportunities for PTAs to promote arts in education:
Reflections Awards Program: Students in Pre-K through grade 12 create theme-based artwork in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.
The 2012-2013 Reflections theme is: The Magic of a Moment.
In 2012, National PTA launched the Special Artist Division—a non-graded division limited to students whose physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges meet the American Disabilities Act guidelines. Qualifying students create their own artwork, but may receive non-artistic accommodation or assistance from an adult. Or, qualifying students may choose to follow all general and arts category rules, but receive accommodation to submit Reflections entries in the grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.
